Documentary Filmmaking Program – 6 Months
Our 6-Month Documentary Filmmaking Program trains students who are ready to delve into the world of non-fiction filmmaking. Students entering the class must come with a specific documentary project in-mind that they will produce during the program. The course, like all the classes at FilmschoolSF, is project-based. Students begin by learning the basics of camera, lighting, story development, proposal writing and interviewing skills. As students develop these skills they put them immediately into practice by creating a short documentary portrait of one of the characters in their longer film project. Students learn specific techniques for editing non-fiction films using Final Cut Pro.

Introduction to Filmmaking Workshop – 1 Day
FilmschoolSF’s 1-Day Introduction to Filmmaking class is the perfect place to start! In this hands-on intensive class, students are offered instruction in the basics of storytelling and screenwriting, pre-production and planning, film camera composition and shooting, lighting for the camera, editing techniques and Final Cut Pro basics, and strategies for launching a career in the filmmaking industry.
